DIY Valentines day gift for anyone

Valentine’s Day is a day where even a small gesture can mean the world. While we often go overboard, there is something beautiful about simplicity, especially when it comes to expressing love. This year, I’ve chosen to give the same gift to both my mom and my husband but to be honest it’s a DIY valentines day gift for anyone. I try to show my husband I appreciate him with little gift I would love. I do like to keep things simple, because he is a simple guy. Also this DIY gift can be placed anywhere around the house and I personally love looking at it.

My husband gifted me the Instax smartphone printer camera a long time ago, and I absolutely adore it. It allows me to print any picture from my phone onto a small Polaroid-style print. This feature has been incredibly useful. I usually print out a lot of my photos but I haven’t found the time to sit and upload them on Shutterfly.

I bought these dried flowers from Amazon because I wanted to add a cute touch to my pictures. They are delicate to the touch. I ended up using tweezers to pick them up, and place them onto the frame. You can find a variety of flower mixes on Amazon, but I opted for something small since I only planned on making two frames.

Attempt 1 fail

Here is the final product of my first attempt. As you can see, the pictures and flowers fell down. It was quite frustrating because I assumed that since the frame was tight, it would hold everything in place, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. So I really wasn’t sure what to use but then I remembers I had a glue gun so I gave it shot.

So, here is the final product, and I think it turned out pretty well. The glue gun worked, and I ended up putting a small dot behind each picture. Additionally, I decided to add small dots behind the bigger flower and lined the stems with glue because I tried to leave them without glue and they still fell. I made sure to keep everything clean so that nothing was noticeable other than the pictures and flowers. Overall, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. It only took me about 30-45 minutes, including the first trial. One thing I noticed with the hot glue was that it made it harder to slide the main picture part in because it became too thick.

Cost

The total pricing is hard to say because I already owned the camera but if you want to purchase one I put the link to the camera and the film package I always buy, so I always have film. But the Frame and the flowers were about $35 and I’m sure you could use anything really to make the pictures and flowers stick, but I really liked the glue gun because it was inconspicuous. A glue gun is really handy especially when doing anything DIY gifts. Here’s the link to that below if your interested in just having one for yourself.
