Self care gift ideas
Sometimes, a small gesture of self-care, like a thoughtful gift, can gently remind us to prioritize our well-being
As I’ve aged, I’ve come to appreciate the significance of self-care. Formerly inclined to prioritize others, I now understand the necessity of looking after myself. Though it’s not my favorite, I’ve learned to voice my desires, realizing that no one can truly know what I want unless I ask. I’ve embraced the idea of giving to myself, alongside giving to others. Here are a few modest indulgences I allow myself. I’ve also acknowledged my preference for quality over quantity and the simple joy of taking a day away with my family instead of doing nothing at all.
Feel good flip flops
Honestly, these flip flops are just so comfortable. I practically lived in them all summer—walking the dog, running errands, you name it—and my feet were never bothered. Sure, they might be a bit on the pricey side for flip flops, but when it comes to self-care, our feet deserve a little extra attention. I happened to find mine on sale at Whole Foods, and if you’re interested, you can check them out on Amazon, which is basically like an extension of the Whole Foods vibe.

Face wash and moisturizer
Ok so I am not much on doing extra for myself, but I don’t want to look completely old so I try to wash my face every once and a while and I definitely use an anti wrinkle regimen. I do have a few face washes, and I try to switch it up about every other day with my expensive product, then my cheaper product. This way my product last longer and still get good results. So first the expensive product I like to use Rodan and Fields REDEFINE Regimen. This is once again expensive but to be honest I like it and I see results. I don’t get oily and my face feels clean. I think the only con for me was when I did it before bed if I did to much I could smell the product. Other then that I have no complaints its a great product.

I also incorporate a facial cleansing brush into my routine once a week for that extra deep cleaning. The brush I purchased comes at a quite reasonable price for the quality it offers. So far, I haven’t encountered any problems using it in the shower or submerging it in water, especially during the cleaning process.

As for my daily moisturizer, it’s wonderfully light and includes sunblock, ensuring I feel fully protected throughout the day.

Jacket
Okay, okay, this might not seem like a typical self-care product, but truthfully, I prefer investing in items I genuinely need and enjoy. I don’t like spending money on unnecessary things. So, I’m mentioning this because if you’re in need of a jacket upgrade, this is worth considering. It’s warm, lightweight, and I wear it to work and during my daily outings.

Bag
My go-to bag for outings with my kids is a Kavu bag. It can easily hold 4 diapers, a pack of wipes, some snacks for the little ones, my wallet, a bunch of random items, and even has a side pocket for a water bottle. I appreciate the quality and durability of the bag, and the best part is that it doesn’t look like a typical diaper bag. With a bit more experience as a mom, I’ve learned to keep things minimal, especially for quick trips to the store or a few hours at the park

Shoes
Crocs, a rather controversial shoe. I wasn’t initially a fan, but when I need a quick slip-on, these are my go-to. I wear them both to work and at home. The beauty of these shoes is that you can easily wipe them from top to bottom, and, personally, they are very comfortable. Opting for black ones for work helps me avoid visible wear, as I prefer a more discreet look without holes in my shoes.

Okay, these may not come across as traditional self-care products, but to me, they truly are. They’re the everyday essentials that make my life easier and more comfortable. For me, self-care means ensuring that my daily routines are simple and worry-free, knowing that these basic items will take care of me. The longevity and quality of these products mean I can rely on them for years, not just months. With two kids under two, finding time for myself is a rare luxury, so when I do get a moment, I ensure that I am content with the outcomes of my efforts.
